Prof. Sarit Kraus is the winner of Emunah's Woman of the Year award for 2010. Prof. Kraus will be awarded this title at the annual Emunah's International Women's Day Conference, that will be held at the Knesset in Jerusalem on Wednesday, Adar 24th 5770. Prof. Kraus's nomination was inspected by a special committee that examined about 35 honorable suggestions.
Prof. Kraus is a successful and extraordinarily impressive yet modest woman. Her academic profile is composed of a mosaic of research and applications in computer science. She won a professional recognition and appreciation in many countries
Born in Haifa (1960), she is an outstanding graduate of the Hebrew University, currently a Professor at the Bar-Ilan university; published three books so far, and over 250 scientific papers, achievements with an unusual extent by any standard; took part in many international projects, and won quite a few important prizes – including one for a special security system currently operating at the Los Angeles airport.
Sarit Kraus is married to Rabbi Prof. Yitzhak Kraus, head of the Bar-Ilan University's Midrasha. The couple has five children. Both children and parents deal with physical and social challenges in an inspiring manner.
