Dedication of the new teenage girls crisis center
On November 19th 2009, representatives of Emunah Israel and World Emunah, together with Canadian chaverot from all over the country, gathered at Neve Michael in Pardes Chana to dedicate the new teenage girls crisis center. Emunah Canada was responsible for the furnishings of the new project, which will be giving therapy to teenage girls from all over the country who are deeply affected by such issues as substance abuse, relationship problems, familial disputes or sexual trauma.
Although there were some generous anonymous donors, much of the money raidsed for the center was a project of love from chapters all over Canada donated at dinners, social events and chapter meetings.
The guests at the dedication were addressed by Naomi Leibler, President of World Emunah, Liora Minka, Chairperson of Emunah Israel, and Elaine Monaker, President of Emunah Canada, who was in Israel together with Roslyn Schneidman. Hava Levene Head of PR from Neve Michael and Angela Turner, a Canadian ex-pat who lived at Neve Michael for three weeks with her family while their own home was being renovated also spoke. Angela recounted the warm way in which her family was embraced by the staff and children at the home.
After a dance presentation by the children of Neve Michael, a plaque was unveiled in the new building, and a tour given of the new facilities, and of course, the furniture!
Special thanks to Judy Pacino for chairing the event, as well as to Elaine and Monty Kobrin, Miriam Novick and Lea Steinlauf who were visiting Israel from Canada and made sure to take time out of their busy schedules to attend the event.
Yeshar Koach to all of the Canadian chaverot who were involved in this project, and may they go from strength to strength.
