News from Emunah Belgium

President of Emunah Brussels, Rabanit Monique Benizri, visited the headquarters of ‎World Emunah in Jerusalem during the summer, where she discussed the programs ‎for the coming year for the Midrasha in Brussels. The program will include a series of ‎lectures on the theme of Parashat Hashavua that will be given by guest speakers ‎from the Department of Jewish Studies at the Sorbonne University in Paris. ‎

The Midrasha in Brussels launched its yearly program in Elul with an opening event ‎featuring Jewish music related to the Yamim Noraiim, performed by the well known ‎artist Betty Klein. ‎

Before the summer vacation, Magda Halevy, Director of the Latin American and ‎French Department, was invited by Mrs. Dora Spitzer President of Emunah Antwerp, ‎to visit Antwerp with the purpose of starting a midrasha of Jewish Studies for young ‎women. After several meetings with a group of young ladies the idea was accepted, ‎and a committee was organized to start the midrasha. ‎

This center of Jewish Studies for young women was officially opened by Rabbi ‎Lieberman Chief Rabbi of Antwerp, in a very festive ceremony. As a result of ‎Magda’s visit, the first meeting of the Midrasha took place at the beginning of Elul, ‎with Rabbi Y. H. Sitruk Chief Rabbi of France, as guest speaker. The theme of the ‎conference was “Women and the study of the Torah – partners for progress”.‎

All these events were very well attended by different segments of the Belgian ‎communities.‎
