Just prior to their departure to the USA for the Pesach vacation, a small group of young women, whose husbands are studying in the Gruss Program in Jerusalem (Yeshiva University) joined Emunah for the morning in order to learn more about the wide scope of our work.
A few of the young women had previously encountered Emunah's activities at a meeting with the President of World Emunah, Naomi Leibler, at Midreshet Emunah in French Hill, and were eager to learn more.
The first stop of the morning was at the Day Care Center in Mevasseret Zion. Our visitors were thrilled to see the 110 Ethiopian infants who are cared for between 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. on a daily basis. They learned about the important work of Emunah in meeting the needs of the various waves of Aliya in Israel throughout the years and asked many questions about child-care in Israel today for working mothers.
The journey to Achuzat Sarah in Bnei Brak passed quickly as the women learned more of the work of Emunah in various parts of the country, such as recently established Batei Midrash for former residents of Gush Katif and the Golden Age restaurant in Petach Tikva.
In Achuzat Sarah, the group was privileged to meet with the director, Shmuel Ron. Shmuel explained why there is a need for children's homes in Israel, how Achuzat Sarah is run, and related some stories about his experiences over the years with the children residing there.
Adv. Dina Hahn, Chairperson of World Emunah, spoke to the group about the Batei Midrash for women, established and supported around the world by World Emunah. She expressed a wish for these young women to consider participating and maybe heading in such programs upon their return to the USA, serving communities around the USA with their husbands.
The women returned to Jerusalem with a feeling that there is so much to learn about Emunah. We would like to be able to introduce more women to Emunah's work by organizing similar trips on a regular basis.
Our special thanks to Gila Rockman, coordinator of this program, and daughter and daughter-in-law of long-time Emunah connected families from Australia for setting up this day with Emunah!
