Emunah Spain…. During the recent war in Gaza Emunah Madrid together with the Emunah Midrasha held a special event with the renowned writer and journalist Pilar Rahola . Ms. Rahola writes regularly for the Barcelona paper “La Vanguardia” and although she defines herself as a left wing intellectual she is one of the very few members of the Spanish and European media who staunchly defends Israel. His Excellency Raphael Shultz, the Israeli Ambassador to Spain attended together with over five hundred members of the various sectors of the Madrid Jewish community. The evening started with a brief description of the work of Emunah in Israel, with emphasis on additional activities during the war in the south, followed by Mrs. Rahola’s lecture and a very lively debate.
Emunah Brussels…. The Emunah Midrasha in Brussels has resumed its activities after the winter recess. President Monique Benizri welcomed Rabbi Yechiel Wasserman, Head of the WZO Department for Religious Affairs in the Diaspora, who was very impressed with the many activities taking place in the Midrasha.
During the course of the war in Gaza, Emunah Brussels organized many activities on behalf of Emunah and Israel. One of the highlights was the Belgium première of the film “The Forgotten Refugees” about the Jews who were needlessly expelled from Arab countries before and after the creation of the State of Israel. Following the screening of the film a debate was held. The panel of representatives from different communities was chaired by Professor Rachmani. Emunah Brussels President, Rabbanit Benizri, described the help and special care that Emunah has provided for the residents of the south of Israel. She highlighted the fact that the residents of Shomria, whose population was expelled from their homes in Gaza and who attend the Shomria midrasha (sponsored this year by Emunah Brussels) were once again under fire. The women and children at Shomria spent their days in bomb shelters while their husbands, brothers and sons were fighting in Gaza.
Emunah Brussels is preparing a fund-raising evening to offer special days of limud and fun at the Emunah midrasha in Jerusalem for the women and children of the midrasha in Shomria.

Professor Rosinne Cohen, Vice Director of the midrasha, recently visited the daycare Center at Har Homa, which is a project supported by Emunah France. She enjoyed meeting a very large group of French children whose young families have recently made alyiah and who receive the generous help of Emunah France in the form of scholarships to help them with their tuition. Israeli needy children also benefit from their help. She was also very pleased to see first hand the equipment, appliances, books and toys that were recently acquired for the daycare Center with the help of Emunah Paris.
Recently, the Emunah Paris-Boulogne group organized several activities such as a conference by Sorbonne Prof. Bernard Paperon and the avant première of the film “Les Réfugiés Oubliés”, with the presence of the film’s director and followed by a cocktail. This last activity was also an opportunity to present the work of Emunah in Israel during the war, and to ask for help for the Emunah emergency programs, as well as the midrasha in Yad Binyamin. It was also remarked during the event that many of the residents of Yad Binyamin were expelled from Gush Katif and again found themselves in a danger zone.
